RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Dental Bridges
A fixed way to replace one or more missing teeth, restore chewing function and help maintain the shape and stability of your smile.
Replacing a missing tooth with a bridge
A dental bridge fills a space using an artificial tooth supported by neighbouring teeth or, in selected cases, implants. The design depends on the number and position of missing teeth, the health of the supporting teeth and your bite.
A bridge can help
- Replace one or more missing teeth
- Improve chewing in the affected area
- Support clearer speech in some cases
- Reduce unwanted movement of nearby teeth
- Restore the appearance of a visible gap
How treatment is planned
Assessment. We evaluate the gap, supporting teeth, gums and bite.
Preparation. If a conventional bridge is suitable, supporting teeth are prepared for crowns.
Impression or scan. Measurements are used to create a bridge that fits your mouth and bite.
Final fitting. The bridge is checked carefully before being secured in place.
Is a bridge my only option?
No. Depending on your clinical situation, alternatives may include a removable denture, an implant-supported restoration or sometimes leaving the space under observation. We will explain the benefits and limitations of the appropriate options before treatment.
