PREVENTIVE CARE
Full Mouth Scaling & Polishing
Professional cleaning to remove plaque, hardened tartar and surface deposits, helping your teeth feel cleaner and supporting healthier gums.
Why professional cleaning matters
Even with careful brushing and flossing, plaque can harden into tartar in areas that are difficult to clean at home. Scaling removes these deposits from the tooth surfaces and around the gumline; polishing then helps remove some external staining and leaves the tooth surfaces smoother.
You may benefit from FMS if…
- You can see or feel tartar buildup
- Your gums bleed when brushing
- You have persistent bad breath
- Your teeth have accumulated surface staining
- It has been some time since your last professional cleaning
What happens during FMS?
Assessment. We first examine your teeth and gums and identify areas of buildup or inflammation.
Scaling. Dental instruments are used to carefully remove plaque and hardened deposits.
Polishing. The teeth are polished to smooth their surfaces and reduce external staining.
Home-care guidance. Where useful, we show you areas that need extra attention between visits.
How often should I have my teeth professionally cleaned?
There is no single interval that is right for everyone. Your dentist can recommend a recall and cleaning schedule based on your gum health, oral hygiene, previous dental history and individual risk factors.
