ALL ABOUT WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to emerge—typically between the ages of 17 and 25. While some people have no issues, others may experience pain, crowding, or infections that require removal.

At Jesus Is The Answer Dental Clinic, we carry out wisdom tooth extractions with skill, precision, and your comfort in mind.

Why Remove Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth may need removal when:-

  • They are impacted (trapped in the gums or jawbone)
  • They grow at the wrong angle and press on nearby teeth
  • There's not enough space in the mouth for them to emerge properly
  • They cause infections, pain, swelling, or cysts
  • Cleaning them becomes difficult, increasing the risk of decay or gum disease

The Extraction Process

  • Assessment – We begin with a detailed exam and X-rays to evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth.
  • Anesthesia – Local anesthesia (and sedation if necessary) is administered to ensure a painless experience.
  • Extraction – Depending on whether the tooth is erupted or impacted, a simple or surgical extraction is performed.
  • Closure – Stitches may be placed to assist with healing, followed by post-care instructions.

Recovery and Aftercare

  • Rest for at least 24 hours post-procedure
  • Eat soft foods and stay hydrated
  • Avoid spitting, straws, or smoking for 48–72 hours
  • Rinse gently with warm salt water after the first day
  • Take prescribed painkillers or antibiotics as advised

Most patients recover in a few days to a week, with full healing of the site over several weeks.
